Theme Notes Series 276: Put On Your Hat (Friday) This week in Play School we explore the theme of “Put on Your Hat” through music, stories, craft and play. Every day this week, we visit the Play School hat shop where a hat for every occasion can be found. On Wednesday, we take a special ride with Justine as she puts on a helmet and travels to Play School on a motorbike. Make some balloon hats for yourself, your friends and your toys and yourself. Parade around your yard wearing your wonderful hats and them off to your family, friends and neighbours. Composers: Peter Dasent & Sophie Emtage Publisher: Origin/Control Hip Hip Hooray (Yippy-yi-yay) Composers: Peter Dasent & Sophie Emtage Publisher: Origin/Control My Body Makes Music (Mi Cuerpo) Composer: Traditional Publisher: Origin/ABC Music Publishing Blow up a Balloon Composer: Lucille Wood Publisher: Bowmar MAKE AND DO How to Make a Pop Painting You will need: - Broom handle or long cardboard cylinder - Two chairs - Dust sheets or newspaper to cover the floor and chairs Apron or large paint shirt - Balloons - String - Powder paint - Glitter - Confetti - Large sheets of butchers paper - Glue paste Cover your work area with newspaper or a dust sheet. Set two chairs on the covered work area, about a metre apart. Cover with newspaper or dust sheets. Rest a broom handle or long cardboard cylinder across the two chairs. Put on an apron or a large paint shirt. Put some powder paint in a balloon. Blow it up, tie a knot in the neck and use a piece of string to hang it on the broom handle or cardboard cylinder. Repeat this process with glitter and confetti. Cover a large sheet of butcher’s paper in paste and place it underneath the balloons. Take a bodkin or pin and pop the balloons. The glitter, paint and confetti will burst out of the balloons to make a lovely pop painting. MAKE AND DO How to Make a Greek Salad You will need: - Baby cos lettuce - Cherry tomatoes - Lebanese cucumber, sliced - Spanish red onion, sliced - Fetta, cubed - Olives - Olive oil - Lemon juice - Pita bread Tear some baby cos lettuce into a bowl. Add cherry tomatoes, sliced onion, cubed feta and olives. Pour some lemon juice and olive oil into a small jar. Screw on the lid tightly and shake to combine. Pour dressing over Greek salad and mix. Serve with pita bread. Quantities will depend on number of people and personal tastes.
