Theme Notes Series 276: Put On Your Hat (Thursday) This week in Play School we explore the theme of “Put on Your Hat” through music, stories, craft and play. Every day this week, we visit the Play School hat shop where a hat for every occasion can be found. On Wednesday, we take a special ride with Justine as she puts on a helmet and travels to Play School on a motorbike. Paint or decorate the paper plates with coloured paint or crayons. When the plates are dry, put them together with their bases facing out. Staple or tape the plates together. Your flying saucer is ready to fly through space. Spin it through the air! MAKE AND DO How to Play a Guessing Game You will need: - Large sheets of cardboard - Coloured paints Scissors - A marker Paint the bodies of different characters on large sheets of cardboard. We painted a clown, an astronaut and a scarecrow. Cut out a hole where the face should be. Ask a friend or family member to put their face through each hole, without looking at the characters you have created. Now your friend or family member has to guess what character they are! Give them clues, such as “You have silly big shoes, baggy pants and funny hair.” Then, use a marker to draw a hat on the character, describing the kind of hat you are drawing to your friend or family member as you go, such as “a tall hat with pom poms”. Can they guess what character they are?
