Reg's relationship with Helen is on the rocks and he and Des Taviner decide to travel to Southend to attempt to rescue the relationship. Does and Reg decide to tell Sgt. Gilmore that they are at the garage getting their clutch fixed and they are seen "off watch". Des persuades Reg to buy her an engagement ring with hilarious circumstances where it ends up been stuck on Reg's finger! <br> <br> Terry Knowles and Nick Klein arrest a petty thief called Derek Daly who stole a gold pocket watch from an old lady. Whilst en route to the station Knowles spots an attractive lady driving a white car and decides that he can pull her. He tries to get a date with her but gets no where, he threatens to do a vehicle check she stabs him with a steel-comb and kills him.
