The volunteers enlist as recruits in the Royal Army: Julian, a cannibalistic brute; Grunter, a paladin of light; Beethoven, a peaceful beekeeper; and Antoshka, a gravedigger. They are tasked with reaching Misty Hill to destroy a secret demonic weapon capable of obliterating the Heavenly Spruce, a vital relic of the kingdom. The party's primary objective is to infiltrate enemy territory, perform a heroic feat, and survive amidst lethal warfare where the mortality rate is exceptionally high.
