Avery feels insecure on the first day of school when she notices that her classmates have had growth spurts over the summer. Meanwhile, Tyler explains to his fellow students that he has a shorter haircut due to a deal with his parents over poor grades; and Chloe pressures Ellen about the contents of her lunch box, which she believes will define Ellen's status at school.
