Schoolteachers Ian and Barbara follow their pupil Susan Foreman home one evening, to a rather strange blue police box. Forcing their way inside, Ian and Barbara discover something that is beyond even their imaginations: a time machine, and come into conflict with its pilot... a mysterious old man known as the Doctor.
