'I remember everything!'

Sunday's 60 Minutes is an interview conducted by Tracy Grimshaw with shark attack survivor Leah Stewart. When Leah Stewart was woken from a 10-day medically induced coma after miraculously surviving a shark attack at Sydney's popular Coogee Beach, one of the first things she told her family was that she remembered in vivid detail everything about her encounter with the predator. From swimming close to shore between the flags and becoming aware there was a massive shark just metres away, to what she was thinking, and doing, as it mauled her. Now, two and a half months on from the terrifying day that left the 34-year-old primary school teacher with horrific life-threatening injuries, including the loss of her left arm, Leah wants the rest of Australia to know what happened. In a gripping interview with Tracy Grimshaw, Leah gives a remarkable blow-by-blow account of staring into the shark's jaws as it attacked, and the reason she knew she couldn't give in to its savagery."It was holding onto my leg and I thought this is my moment, and then I just thought of my daughter August, and I thought she's not going to have a mum. And I couldn't handle that," she says.Grimshaw's story also includes interviews with Leah's courageous rescuers, who risked their own lives to get her away from the shark, as well as members of the medical teams whose care and expertise helped to keep this young mother alive.
