Torrential rain submerged cars and led to harrowing water rescues. In New Jersey, the roof of a wholesale club collapsed as severe weather triggered travel delays at major airports. Iranian officials say millions flooded the streets of Tehran for the funeral procession for Iran's late supreme leader, assassinated by the U.S. and Israel at the start of the war earlier this year. For over three decades he ran a strict, authoritarian government, stoked regional conflict and oversaw a brutal crackdown on women. But today, Richard Engel was there for the national show of mourning and solidarity. There's new video of the dramatic rescue caught on camera after a plane crash landed on New York City's East River. NBC News' Sam Brock has that footage. A passenger in a San Francisco Waymo vehicle was recording as the car failed to detect a lit firework and drove over top of it. The incident comes as the robotaxi provider had to tow other cars in its fleet after their batteries died in heavy holiday traffic. NBC's Liz Kreutz reports. A young girl got the birthday surprise of a lifetime at the Memphis Zoo when her father, Navy Personnel Specialist 1st Class Adam Popke, returned from a deployment to surprise her and her family.
