Dozens of gunshots were heard near the White House Saturday evening, putting the White House on lockdown. Reporters at the North Lawn were rushed inside by Secret Service. NBC News' Julie Tsirkin witnessed the incident. President Trump posted on his social media platform on Saturday that an agreement to end the war with Iran has been "largely negotiated," adding that he also spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. NBC News' Keir Simmons reports. The Memorial Day weekend is off to a rough start on Saturday, with severe weather across the eastern half of the U.S. bringing heavy rains and dangerous conditions. NBC News' Priscilla Thompson reports. Officials from the U.S. and Iran appear to be nearing a deal to end the ongoing Middle-East conflict, according to public statements from President Donald Trump Saturday. "An Agreement has been largely negotiated, subject to finalization between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the various other Countries, as listed," Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Saturday afternoon. NBC News' Raf Sanchez reports. Some police departments are beginning to use artificial intelligence to draft police reports. One tool, called Axon Draft One, helps officers in Chula Vista, California, generate them in minutes using audio from body-worn cameras. But organizations like the ACLU are warning about the technology's early adoption. NBC News' Camila Bernal reports. Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) declared a state of emergency in California on Saturday as thousands of people were forced to evacuate their homes over a toxic chemical tank that, authorities say, will either leak or explode. NBC News' Steve Patterson is on the ground just outside the evacuation zone. At Lincoln Charter School in Denver, students and staff paid tribute to bus driver Johnny Huss, known as "Mr. Johnny," on the day of his retirement. That tribute was one of many recent shows of support from students toward educators who helped them learn. NBC News' José Díaz-Balart has that story and more in this week's Good News Wrap-Up.
