With the press of a button on a keyboard, now any photograph of a person, any innocent happy snap, can instantly be turned into pornography. For women especially, A.I.'s deep-fake technology is driving a new wave of violence all over the world. As Dimity Clancey reports, there can be no mistake: this is not harmless computer fun, it's a form of serious abuse. And worryingly, anyone can be targeted, even the mother of one of Elon Musk's children.
