The Girl in the Carpet

The Dark Land team revisit the case of Karen Price, a fifteen-year-old girl who disappeared after running away from care. Wrapped in a carpet and entombed in concrete in a Cardiff back garden, her murdered body lay undiscovered for eight years.Karen's skeletal remains were eventually discovered by builders, but detectives were unable to identify her. In a murder investigation first, police turned to forensic artist Richard Neave who worked with Karen's skull to create a clay bust of what her face may have looked like. Following a TV appeal, Karen was identified within days and her killer caught within weeks.
