Talala the gnome managed to escape the Celestial Realm thanks to the selfless sacrifice of her friend, the medium Pakhom. Stepping out of the teleportation portal onto the Isle of Temptation, she found that the once-paradisiacal corner had been transformed into a hellish sacrificial altar. The demons that had descended upon the island had felled the palm trees, burned the bungalows, and enslaved the inhabitants. The island—or rather, what remained of it—was being dragged toward the Black Helenburg by a massive kraken, its tentacles pinned to the ground with stakes of demonic steel. Talala and her allies must not allow the portal to the Celestial Realm to fall into the hands of the Dark Lord.
