Not long ago, the Sun Squad had a run-in with the kingpin of the criminal underworld, Mr. Janus. The family of former cannibals narrowly escaped death thanks to the sudden manifestation of precognitive abilities in little Lyosha, but the child's psyche could not withstand the horrors he witnessed. In an attempt to cope with the trauma, the boy's mind awakened one of his soul's past incarnations—that of the mighty centaur, Bucephalus. A druid acquaintance informed the Sun Squad that Lyosha could be healed by a specific artifact: an ectoplasmic aspirator, better known as the 'Daisou' soul-sucker, currently in Janus's possession. The Sun Squad, joined by the city guard, set off for the merchants' fair at the Deep Channel Hotel to track down Janus, seize the soul-sucker, and restore Lyosha's sanity.
