As Iraq battles to finally rid itself of the scourge of Isis, Shia militia fighters are lining up alongside the Iraqi army to deal the final blow to the terrorist group. But their involvement comes at a terrible cost. With rare access, Dispatches reporter Ramita Navai reveals the other side of the war against the so-called Islamic State, investigating allegations of torture, execution and sectarian cleansing by the militia against their fellow Iraqis. Director Patrick Wells's film reports from outside Mosul where Sunni refugees fleeing Isis face a new threat: potential imprisonment and torture by the militia. It also investigates allegations of kidnap, extortion and the forced displacement of Sunnis from their homes. Persian-speaker Navai goes undercover to meet victims and discovers that, backed by Iran, some groups are using the opportunity of war against Isis to brutally settle sectarian and historic scores. It all points to a bleak future in Iraq after Isis.
