These Old Bones is set in the 1940s and centers on a determined young lawyer who returns to her Smoky Mountain hometown from Washington, D.C., to prove herself professionally when a mysterious old mountain woman, Miss Mary Shaw — who locals believe is a fortune teller — threatens a lumber company's business. What results is a test of faith that includes the uncovering of past secrets.
