From the Royal Albert Hall, conductor Nicholas Collon and the Aurora Orchestra continue their impressive feat of explaining complex works and then performing them from memory. Russian fairy tales and folk melodies collide with Stravinsky's bold modernism in one of the great ballet scores of the 20th century - his Firebird Suite. The concert opens with another Russian classic - Rachmaninov's virtuosic Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, performed by pianist and former Radio 3 New Generation Artist Pavel Kolesnikov.
